Around 9:30pm, Independence Police Department received a call for shots fired in the 200 block of Highway 40 in the city limits of Independence. Officers learned two victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Several hours later, 29-year-old Marquise Jackson from Independence was pronounced dead. A 20-year-old male victim was treated for his injuries and released.
