Well, my dear swampies, we have successfully made it through a week of 2025… unless you only count a week as a whole week, in which case, we are only about halfway through the first whole week of 2025. But either way, we’re doing great!

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents are investigating a fatal hunting incident that occurred on Dec. 28 in Tangipahoa Parish. Roberto Garcia, 61, of Baton Rouge, was shot by a hunter while hunting on the Sandy Hollow Wildlife Management Area (WMA) near Kentwood.

This is a shoutout to the Ponchatoula Fire Department, the pride of Ponchatoula.

On Christmas morning as my wife, Kathy, was preparing our family dinner, she walked away from the stove with butter and sugar cooking away. In a matter of seconds, the pan began to fill the kitchen with smoke, which set off the smoke detector.
