Gumbo, Music, and Huge Raffle at Gumbo Cook Off on November 1

Saturday, November 1, is an important day for Tangi Animal Friends (TAF), as it will hold its 3rd Annual Gumbo Cook-Off Fundraiser open to the public from 1-4pm. The gate opens at 12:30 and the tasting begins at 1:00.The band Stone Mother will perform again this year.

Otters: Adorable River Puppies

One of the most adorable critters we have that’s loved by pretty much everyone, is the North American River Otter. They look kind of like weasels or ferrets but have small, round ears, a flattened head, short legs with webbed feet, and they can weigh anywhere from 11-30lbs.

Gardenettes October Meeting

Susan Pizani, Gardenettes president, spoke on Tulip Mania at the garden club’s October 8 meeting, held at the Strawberry Board Building. Pizani outlined how this plant, which originally was found in Central Asia in a region that is now Turkey, came to be a well inflated commodity in Holland.
