Pleas Before Judge Erika Sledge

The following defendants appeared and entered pleas before Judge Sledge on February 24-25, 2025, in Amite: Channing C. Garrett, 40, of Hammond, pleaded no contest to first-degree injuring public records and forgery. The defendant was sentenced to serve five years in DOC at hard labor.

Sentencing is scheduled May 5, 2025, for a Hammond who has been convicted of second-degree murder.21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux says a Tangipahoa Parish jury deliberated for less than 90 minutes before returning a unanimous guilty verdict against Julius Gales, Jr., 30, of Hammond.
