Four Constitutional Amendments on December 7 Ballot

Earlier in 2024, five Constitutional Amendments were passed by Louisiana lawmakers in the regular legislative session. These amendments must now be approved by a simple majority of registered voters to become effective. One Amendment was promoted to law by voters in the November 5 election.

One of the most interesting areas in this parish is where the beautiful Tangipahoa River empties into Lake Pontchartrain. As it enters the lake, the river water loses its velocity, creating a sand bar that prohibits deep-draft vessels from entering.
