A 4th of July Story About Our Veterans

This is my Daddy, Louis (Ory) Jenkins (1909-1980), and the house he built for himself in Ponchatoula in 1938 before the war. He was a star running back for the Ponchatoula High Green Wave and president of his senior class of 1930. He played shortstop for the Ponchatoula Athletics.

• Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 38 near LA Hwy 441 in St. Helena Parish. The crash claimed the life of 80-year-old Billy Hebert of Greensburg. The crash occurred as a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Hebert, was westbound on LA Hwy 38.
