Saturday, June 29, 2024, was a warm but beautiful day in Tangipahoa Parish, and the Parish Courthouse in Amite provided the backdrop for a momentous event. For the first time in 20 years, Tangipahoa Parish has a new Sheriff – Gerald D. Sticker.

A New Day in Berrytown

In the second Tangipahoa area inauguration to recently replace a 20-yearold administration, J. Wesley Daniels took the oath of office on Monday and officially became the new mayor of the City of Ponchatoula.

sNoBalls Scholarships

Our local art, music, and fun-loving dance group, “The sNoBalls,” has been very busy this summer. They have hosted meet and greets to recruit new members and awarded scholarships to children in the community interested in art, music, dance, and theatre camps.

Twenty-First Judicial District Court Chief Judge Blair Edwards has announced there will be a new Division (Division L) added to the 21st Judicial District.“The caseload for the district courts in Tangipahoa, Livingston and St. Helena Parishes continues to increase each year,” said Judge Edwards.

Kameel the Giraffe Turns 31

Matriarch is one of the world’s oldest living giraffes Global Wildlife Center team members presented a birthday cake of carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, and lettuce to Kameel the giraffe to celebrate her momentous 31st birthday on June 13. Kameel is one of the oldest living giraffes in the world.
