Student Arrested for Gun on School Property

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a Ponchatoula teenager for bringing a gun to his school’s campus.Thomas Sharp, 17, is booked on one count of Possession of a Firearm on School Property.

Squirrel and Rabbit Hunting Seasons Open Oct. 4

The Louisiana squirrel and rabbit hunting seasons begin Saturday (Oct. 4) in all parts of Louisiana and run through Feb. 28, 2026, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced. Squirrel and rabbit hunting are both enjoyable and a good way to introduce youth to hunting.

TPSO Investigating Fatal Shooting in Hammond Area

On Monday afternoon, September 30, TPSO received a call about shots being fired between two cars in the 13000 block of Miley Niquiporo Road. Shortly after, a call came in about shots being fired at a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 1064 and Rufus Bankston Road.
