Matthew Mire, the man behind a deadly 2021 crime spree across three Louisiana parishes, has been sentenced to two life terms plus 348 years and is headed to Angola prison. Sentencing was finalized in Livingston Parish on July 21, where 152 years of his sentence stem from crimes committed there.

Underage Sales Enforcement Nets Arrest, Citations

AMITE (July 23, 2025) Thanks to the support of a Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) grant, 14 business clerks were cited, and one was arrested during a series of operations to uncover and address underage tobacco and alcohol sales and use.

Southeastern Louisiana University’s new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is G. Eric Skipper, the university recently announced. His appointment follows a nationwide search and has been approved by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
