MINUTES OF THE TANGIPAHOA PARISH COUNCIL JULY 27, 2026 MEETING
The Tangipahoa Parish Council met on the 27th day of July 2026 in Regular Session and was called to order by Ms.
Brigette Hyde, Chairwoman at 5:30pm. The Chair asked all cell phones to be muted or turned off.
The Invocation was given by Councilman Joseph and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Mayeaux.

FINANCIAL REPORT - President Miller made known monthly financial reports were emailed to the council.
RECOGNITION – President Miller recognized Cub Scout Troop 270 for attending to earn their badges in communications and citizenship of the community that requires the Troop to attend a public meeting.
PRESENTATION AND PUBLIC INPUT: Don Bates, Osprey, Inc. presented the UNO Grant Progress Report which included a slideshow outlining a new initiative to remove sediment, litter and oil and fuel residues within stormwater inlets and asking for any public input. No one from the public asked to speak.

President Miller discussed the recent NACo Conference in New Orleans and commended the parish staff for their hard work, expressing his appreciation on a job well done.

READING OF THE PROCES VERBAL Ms. Hyde read the canvass of the votes at the election held in the Parish of Tangipahoa on Saturday, May 16, 2026, for the amendment of the Home Rule Charter on term limits, it was therefore shown that there was a total of 6,151, votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 1 and a total of 14,258 votes cast AGAINST Proposition No. 1 as hereinabove set forth. PROPOSITION NO.1 WAS DULY DEFEATED and it was therefore shown that there was a total of 6,527 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 2 and a total of 13,672 votes cast AGAINST Proposition No. 2 as hereinabove set forth. PROPOSITION NO.2 WAS DULY DEFEATED. No Action Required by the council.
ADOPTION of T.P. LEGAL MATTERS – Mr. Cascio discussed the research regarding the creation of a new drainage district as requested by the Council. He advised that he will provide a more detailed email discussing the council forming the boundaries, the parameters, publication requirements and then the vote of the tax payers of the district.
COUNCILMEN’S PRIVILEGES
Mrs. Cieutat announced a town hall meeting for District 10 residents on July 30th at the Ponchatoula Fire Station, 610 E. Pine Street at 6:00pm.
Mr. Joseph commended the leadership of Cub Scout 270.
