Lt. Col. (retired) Arthur Neal Zieske, 85, a resident of Ponchatoula, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. He was born in Cleveland, OH, on January 8, 1939, to William A. Zieske and Queen E. Whitehead Zieske. He and his wife, Patsy Jean. Were married in Cleveland on September 3, 1960.

Art dedicated his life to serving God, family, and country. He was a 20+ year veteran of the United States Army, Special Forces Division dedicating his time to preserving the freedoms of the United States and protecting its citizens and allies. After retirement he continued serving his community through two terms on the Tangipahoa Parish School board, advocating on behalf of the Save the Lake Foundation, and being active in his local church. His contributions and accolades are too many to list. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending leisure time hunting and fishing with friends and family. His greatest legacy is that of a loving husband and father and his commitment to God.

Art leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Patsy Jean Zieske; his son, Art Zieske, and wife, Lynn; son, Gus Zieske, and wife, Joetta; daughter, Lee Barends, and husband, Tim; daughter-in-law, Lisa Zieske; sister, Joyce Berger; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brother, John Zieske; father, Bill Zieske; mother, Queen Zieske; and son, Jon Zieske.
