Maria Champagne passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 76; Independence; August 4; survived by her daughters, Karen Champagne Johnston and Lacy Champagne Mills (Jody); grandchildren, Jody Mills, Jr., Richard, Robbie, Nicole and John Johnston; brothers, John (Susan) and Michael Sokira; as well as her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Sokira, Rachel Clark, Bobby Fousch, Lori Samataro and Terri Carrone.
