Marjorie Sharp Gainey passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 90. She was born on Monday, December 31, 1934, in New Orleans and resided in Ponchatoula. Margie was an excellent cook and made a legendary dark brown gravy that family and friends still rave about. Her shrimp and sausage gumbo, lasagna, and macaroni and cheese were second to none.
Marjorie is survived by her two sons- and daughters-in-law, Glenn Dale and Sharon Methvin and Donnie and Debby Methvin; two daughters, Brenda Gainey and Rhonda Gainey; brother, James Sharp; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-chil- Marjorie Sharp Gainey dren. She is also survived by many family members and friends. Preceded in death by her son, Dennis Methvin; stepson, Thomas Methvin; parents, Leslie Sharp, Sr. and Jessie Culbertson Sharp; and brothers, Leslie Sharp, Jr. and Paul Sharp.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Marjorie’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00pm with Brother Glynn Fendlason presiding. Visitation will begin at 11:00am and continue until service time. The reception room will be available for family and friends to gather throughout the day.
