Amy Elizabeth Curet, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on November 3, 1986, in Hammond, Louisiana, Amy attended Holy Ghost Catholic School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Louisiana Tech University, and received her bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Her life was forever blessed when she gave birth to her son, Jeremiah. Amy was a loving mother who dedicated her life to her son and showered him with love and affection. Amy will be remembered for her kind and thoughtful heart, and her creative, adventurous spirit. She loved nature, and being outdoors with the sun on her face and the wind in her hair. She is missed dearly by her family and will remain in their hearts forever.

Amy is survived by her beloved son, Jeremiah James Curet; parents, Douglas and Carol Motes Curet; sisters, Christie Curet Jackson and Tracy Curet Ward and her husband James Ward; nieces, Caroline, Madeline, Olivia; nephew, Parish; Jeremiah’s father, Timothy Montgomery; and a host of loving extended family.

Family and friends paid respects at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Friday, January 17, 2025, and attended the funeral mass on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond.

Maa’lachi Zahir Simmons

Maa’lachi Zahir Simmons passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, in Amite, Louisiana. He was born on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Hammond, Louisiana to Mer’Cedes Nikole Stewart and Da’Markus O’Brian Simmons. He was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

Maa’lachi is survived by his mother; Mer’Cedes Nikole Stewart; father, Da’Markus O’Brian Simmons; maternal grandparents, La’Quinta Baker and Darious Davis; paternal grandparents, Emily Clark and Damien Simmons; great-grandparents, Robin and Kenneth Vining and Stella Stewart; aunts, Brayya Pitts, Jaee’den Pitts, Tayelor Pitts, Diamond Brister, and Chadsity Clark; great-aunts, Lanitha Beauchamp, Shanita Baker, Sharonda Stewart, and Brulita Stewart; great-great-aunts, Lisa Baker, Nancy Baker, and Tysonia Baker; greatgreat- uncles, Warren Baker, Sr., Antione Baker, Anthony Baker, Bruce Stewart, and Derrick Stewart; and numerous cousins and other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandfather, Bruce Stewart.

Relatives and friends attended the visitation and funeral service at Greater Mt. Vernon Church, 1005 LaVanner Brown Drive, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Interment will follow in Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
