The Town Council of the Town of Kentwood, Louisiana met in special session on Thursday, July 11,
2024 at 6:00 P.M., at the Kentwood City Hall with Mayor Irma T. Gordon presiding. Mayor Gordon
called the meeting to order following opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.
The roll was called with the following results:
Present: Gary Callihan, Michael Hall, Paul Stewart
Absent: Xavier Diamond, Jakoiya Wilkerson
The Kentwood Housing was transferred to Tangipahoa Parish Housing Department, effective July 1,
2024 so no action was taken on that agenda item.
Ms. Evelyn Williams’ reclassification from Housing Director to a Town Employee, effective June 30,
2024 was approved at a previous meeting so no action was taken on that agenda item.
Mayor Gordon requested the agenda to be amended to add the Town Clerk, Fredrika Ruffin. A motion
was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to amend the
agenda to add the Town Clerk’s salary.
Mayor Gordon requested the Board’s approval of a $2 raise for the Town Clerk, for the extra workload
she will be taking on to reduce some of the CPA’s work. A motion was offered by Councilman Hall,
second by Councilman Stewart and unanimously carried to approve the $2 raise for the Town Clerk and
amend the Budget Ordinance at a regular town meeting.
A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilman Stewart, and unanimously carried to
adjourn.
