A public meeting was held at the Village of Tangipahoa City Hall located at 12616 Jackson Street, Tangipahoa, LA 70465 on August 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Alderwoman Pamela Bean, Alderman Willis Smith, and Alderman Rodriguez were present. The minutes were motioned for approval with the necessary correction by Alderwoman Bean and seconded by Alderman Smith. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the motion is carried to adopt Ordinance 1 of 2025 Regularly Scheduled Meeting Amendment. Mayor Gray recommended Ms. Vanessa Williams as Magistrate. The motion is carried upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and seconded by Alderman Smith. Mayor Gray presented Resolution 4 of 2025 Revising Charges, Fees, Deposits, Procedures, and Penalties for Utility Services. There was no public input. Upon motion by Alderman Rodriguez and seconded by Alderman Smith the motion is carried. Mayor Gray presented Resolution 5 of 2025, Establishing an Increase in Water and Sewer Rates. During public input on this item, Ms. Tracy Cook stated, I don’t have a problem with the increase. It’s not that bad. The motion is carried upon motion by Alderman Rodriguez and seconded by Alderman Smith. Mr. Eslam Odeh requests an annexation of his property within the village limits. After much discussion, the mayor will investigate the costs of the annexation. The board will review this request at the next council meeting. Upon motion by Alderman Rodriguez and second by Alderwoman Bean, the board approves the adoption of the Language Access Plan. As part of public comments, Mr. Rickey Coleman asked the board to consider changing the name of the park. Mayor Gray informs the board that the town has installed a new pump in the Silo lift station, and all the lift stations are working. Alderman Smith motions to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Rodriguez seconds that the meeting is adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
