Monthly Council Meeting Minutes

The Village of Tickfaw Council met in a monthly meeting at 5:00pm on September 9, 2025. Mayor Lamonte called the meeting to order, Councilman Fedele, Councilman Lemay, Chief DiBenedetto, and Attorney Trippi all were present. Councilman Galofaro was absent. All present received and reviewed the monthly financial statements. The invocation was done by Mayor Lamonte followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Old Business-

A) Dorothy Lane Matter

Nothing new to report

B) Update on Love’s Truck Stop

Love’s is still working on obtaining permits and dealing with the wetlands. They are now expected to be completed in late 2026 or early 2027.

C) Adopt or deny ordinance for annexation of El Ranchito and Flea Market

A motion was made to table the adoption or denial of the ordinance to October 14, 2025 at 5pm by Lemay 2nd Fedele Votes (2)

D) Approve or Deny Campers being parked on Village property by RR Tracks

Campers being parked on Village property during Italian Festival were addressed. The festival informed council that they carry insurance for all campers and the Police Chief agreed to have extra security for Village residents during the Italian Festival. A motion was made to allow the Italian Festival the use of Village property by RR tracks for the 2026 Festival only made by Fedele 2nd Lemay Votes (2)

9. New Business-

A) Discuss purchasing property in Tickfaw for Park

Mayor would like to purchase 1 sq. block of land in Town to make a park if the town receives grant funding to make purchase. Motion to pursue Lemay 2nd Fedele Votes (2)

B) Ordinance about parking on Village Property.

Motion to table until next council meeting on October 14, 2025, at 5pm made by Lemay 2nd Fedele Votes (2)

C.) Discuss blighted property on Magee Ln.

Pictures were presented to board members of property. Attorney Trippi is to send a letter to property owners and Mayor Lamonte will get with Parish to have it inspected.

11.Police Chief Report

Chief DiBenedetto wants to remind residents to lock their vehicles and doors at night.

12.. Attorney Report

Attorney Trippi informed the Village that he will be attending the City Attorney Conference on October 3rd.

13. Council Response

Councilman Fedele thanked the town for doing a great job on grass cutting by the Chapel.

Councilman Lemay brought up concerns of a fire Hydrant on Mannina that does not have a streetlight above it. Mayor Lamonte informed him that we are only required to have a streetlight on every other pole.

14. Mayor Report

Mayor Lamonte spoke on several grants and projects that he is submitting applications to receive grant funding for. He also addressed the complaints on Santangelo Ln. which cannot be overlayed until November. The Mayor stated that the Culvert on Manina is completed and the long arm tractor is back in operation.
