TOWN OF KENTWOOD December 22, 2025
SPECIAL SESSION
The Town Council of the Town of Kentwood, Louisiana held a public hearing at 5:00 P.M., followed by
its special session on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 6:00 P.M., at the Kentwood City Hall with Mayor
Irma T. Gordon presiding. Mayor Gordon called the meeting to order following opening prayer and
Pledge of Allegiance.
The roll was called with the following results:
Present: Gary Callihan, Xavier Diamond, Michael Hall, Paul Stewart, and Jakoiya Wilkerson
Absent: None.
There was one 2025 liquor license renewal for approval. A motion was offered by Councilman Hall,
second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously carried to approve the beer, liquor and tobacco
license renewal for Circle K.
A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously
carried to grant Ms. Sandy Welch’s hardship request to stay in a camper and get utilities for the next 6
months. Ms. Welch can come back before the Council to request more time after 6 months, if needed.
A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to
approve Fire Chief Schrimsher’s recommendation to hire part-time firefighter, Brendan Digiovanni, as a
full-time firefighter, at a rate of $10/hr.
A motion was offered by Councilwoman Wilkerson, second by Councilman Stewart and unanimously
carried for the Town of Kentwood to no longer give pennies as change, due to the bank no longer giving
pennies as change. Our customers paying must have the exact change or any amount owed to them will
be applied to their account as a credit, excluding property tax payments.
A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously
carried to approve amendments to FYE 2024 Budget and adopt FYE 2025 Budget, along with detail of
salaries as required by L.R.S. 33:404.1. This motion was approved with the stipulation that all
departments come back before the Council before making purchases that will affect the Town’s budget.
A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilman Callihan and unanimously carried to
adjourn the meeting.
