NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
Pursuant to the provisions of an ordinance adopted on October 14, 2025 (the “Ordinance”), by the Parish Council of the Parish of Tangipahoa, State of Louisiana, acting as the governing authority (the “Governing Authority”) of the Parish of Tangipahoa, State of Louisiana (the “Parish”), NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election will be held in the Parish on Saturday, May 16, 2026 (the “Election”), and that at the Election there will be submitted to all registered voters of the Parish, qualified and entitled to vote at the Election under the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana and the Constitution of the United States of America, the following propositions, to wit:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
Shall Article II, Section 2-01, Subsection (A) of the Home Rule Charter of the Parish of Tangipahoa, State of Louisiana, be amended to read: “The Legislative power of Parish Government shall be vested in a Council consisting of ten (10) members elected for four (4) year terms for Districts described in Section 8-10 (Election of Officials), one (1) from and by the qualified electors in each District. Beginning on January 1, 2016, no Council Member shall be allowed to serve more than four (4) consecutive four (4) year terms”?
PROPOSITION NO. 2
Shall Article III, Section 3-02 of the Home Rule Charter of the Parish of Tangipahoa, State of Louisiana, be amended to read: “The President shall be elected at large from and by the qualified electors of the parish according to the election laws of the State for a four (4) year term. Beginning on January 1, 2016, no President shall be allowed to serve more than four (4) consecutive four (4) year terms”?

The polling places set forth above are hereby designated as the polling places at which to hold the Election, and the Commissioners-in-Charge and Commissioners, respectively, shall be those designated according to law.
The Election will be held in accordance with the applicable provisions of Chapter 5, Chapter 6 and Chapter 6-B of Title 18 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended, and other constitutional and statutory authority, including but not limited to La. R.S. 13:5903.C. and the officers appointed to hold the Election, as provided in this Notice of Special Election, or such substitute therefor, as may be selected and designated in accordance with La. R.S. 18:1287, will make due returns thereof to the Governing Authority of the Parish.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the Governing Authority of the Parish will meet May 25, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at the Tangipahoa Parish Courthouse Annex, 206 Mulberry Street, Amite, Louisiana, and shall then and there in open and public session proceed to examine and canvass the returns and declare the results of the Election. The Governing Authority of the Parish reserves the right to postpone the date and time set forth above for the canvass of the returns (without any further publication of notice of the change in the date, time and/or location). All registered voters of the Parish are entitled to vote at said Election and voting machines will be used thereat.
The estimated cost of the Election as determined by the Louisiana Secretary of State is $23,800.
