TOWN OF AMITE CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
February 18, 2026
The Mayor and City Council of the Town of Amite City, Louisiana came together in
special session on the 18th day of February 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the meeting room of
City Hall, 212 E. Oak St., Amite, LA 70422.
Declaration
City Clerk Jewel McCoy read the public input statement.
Mayor Walter Daniels III called the meeting to order and asked McCoy for roll call.
Council members present:

Maria Coleman
Shirley Core
Charles “Mose” Guzzardo
Kenyetta Richardson
Council members absent: None
Others in attendance:
City Manager Mark Kolwe, Police Chief Lendrick Francois, Fire Chief J. D. Stevens
Prayer and Pledge
Richardson offered the opening prayer followed by Daniels leading the Pledge of
Allegiance.

A motion was made by Guzzardo, seconded by Core to approve adjustments to
February 2026 water bills due to inclement weather. A roll call vote was taken as
follows:
YEAS: Coleman, Core, Guzzardo, Richardson, Sumrall
NAYS: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None
Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Guzzardo to remove from the agenda
the approval of new occupational license for Sweet Magnolia Events located at 804 N.
2nd St., Amite.
Motion passed with no objection.
A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Core to approve Resolution No. 01-2026
– A Resolution to sale manual-read water meters. A roll call vote was taken as follows:
YEAS: Coleman, Core, Guzzardo, Richardson, Sumrall
NAYS: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None
Motion passed.
A motion was made by Coleman, seconded by Core to approve Resolution No. 02-
2026 – A resolution to sale garbage carts. A roll call vote was taken as follows:
YEAS: Coleman, Core, Guzzardo, Richardson, Sumrall
NAYS: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None
Motion passed.
A motion was made by Richardson, seconded by Sumrall to adjourn. Meeting
adjourned.
