Cookoffs and cars drew
thousands to Hammond and Ponchatoula

At right, Best in Show in the Julian Dufreche Strawberry Day in the Park car show was Bonnie Wills with her classic hippychick VW Bus. Car show coordinator Jody Borne (on stage, right) announced the winners in the show, which featured almost 100 classic cars and custom vehicles.
Above, volunteers at the beer booth peddled cold canned beer and rang the tip bell at the annual Hammond BBQ fundraiser, which supports the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation. Tangi Times was a proud sponsor of the event.
At left, the Open Range Band played at Hammond BBQ on Saturday. Friday’s entertainment was provided by 3rd Street band.
