Minutes of the Board of Commissioners of Gravity Drainage District No. 4 of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the regular meeting place, Amite City Hall, Amite, Louisiana.
The Board of Commissioners of Gravity Drainage District No. 4 of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana met on the above date in regular session and was called to order by the Vice-President, Mr. Lafete Tucker, at 4:30 p.m. o’clock with the following members present:
Present: Lafete Tucker, Kyle Warren, James C. Ricks, Lionel Sutton
Absent: Lori B. Petitto
The Vice-President, Mr. Lafete Tucker, voiced the invocation and the pledge.
The roll call showed a quorum to be present. Whereupon a motion was made by Mr. Warren duly seconded by Mr. Sutton and unanimously carried that the reading of the minutes of the last regular meeting, dated April 27, 2026, be dispensed with and that they be adopted as of record and published in the official journal.
The secretary presented bills in the amount of $10,008.10 for canal maintenance, material, supplies, contract labor, printing, etc. Whereupon a motion was made by Mr. Ricks duly seconded by Mr. Warren and unanimously carried that the payment of the bills be authorized and approved.
The financial report on the general condition of the district was given, and a motion was made by Mr. Warren duly seconded by Mr. Ricks and unanimously carried that the report of the treasurer be approved and accepted.

On motion by Mr. Sutton duly seconded by Mr. Warren and unanimously carried, the following action was taken:
NOTICE TO BIDDERS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of Gravity Drainage District No. 4, Parish of Tangipahoa, Louisiana, will receive sealed bids until 4:30 pm, Monday, June 29, 2026, for the official printing for the said Drainage District No. 4 for the year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027.
Bids may be presented to the Drainage Board at Amite City Hall, Amite, Louisiana, or mailed to 614 Suzanne Drive, Amite, Louisiana 70422.
Bids must be submitted for the cost of a square of one hundred words, provided when the material is to be in tabular form, the tabulated material shall be computed based on the number of words of straight matter which would occupy an identical amount of space.
Must be published and circulated within the said Gravity Drainage District. The right to reject any and all bids received are hereby reserved.
Mr. Calvin Graham and Mr. LaDarius Gordon have reported that all is going well with the contract labor crew and work areas. Mr. Gordon made known to the board that it was a great decision to hire Mr. Calvin Graham, as he has really shown the crew how to properly maintain the ditches and canals within the district. Therefore, on motion by Mr. Ricks duly seconded by Mr. Warren and unanimously carried, the board agreed for work to continue as it is and approved of the purchasing of new equipment that is going to be needed, requested by Mr. Calvin Graham. Mr. Graham, Mr. Gordon, and a few board members will meet at Eastside Garage to purchase the additional equipment needed such as chain saws, sprayers, weed eaters, pull rakes, pitch forks, straps, etc.
Mr. Gordon and Mr. Graham will continue to assess the crew and their ability to perform on the job under tough working conditions, like extreme heat or around snakes, as well as their willingness to work to complete a job without complaining despite difficulties. They will report back at the next regular meeting if any changes need to be made.
No further business appearing, on motion by Mr. Warren duly seconded by Mr. Tucker and unanimously carried, the board adjourned.
