Board of Commissioners
Regular Meeting
June 11, 2026
5:00 p.m.
The Board of Commissioners of Tangipahoa Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 met
this 11th day of June, 2026, in regular session. Those present were Chairman E. Ray
Glasgow, Vice-Chairman Robbie Lee, Commissioners Jeff McKneely and Ray Cutrer,
Secretary Agnes Prevost, and Fire Chief J. D. Stevens. Absent was Commissioner
Reginald Foster. Assistant Chief Jason King and Chief of Fire Prevention C. J. Pardue
were also in attendance.

A motion was made by Mr. McKneely, seconded by Mr. Lee and carried that the Board
dispense with the reading of the minutes of the regular meeting of May 14, 2026, and
the special meeting of May 28, 2026, and accept them as prepared.

Mr. McKneely made a motion to approve payment of current bills in the amount of
$18,872.00. Mr. Lee seconded the motion and it so carried.

After review of the financial statement, a motion was made by Mr. McKneely,
seconded by Mr. Cutrer and carried that the financial statement for the month of May,
2026, be accepted.

The Chairman stated that the next item on the agenda is consideration of Official
Journal bids for the period July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.
The Secretary made known that two bids had been received for the Official Journal,
as follows:
The Daily Star---------------$4.00 per square of 100 words, publication on Thursday only
The Tangi Times------------$5.00 per square of 100 words, publication on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday
A motion was made by Mr. McKneely, seconded by Mr. Lee and carried that the Board
accept the bid from The Tangi Times at $5.00 per square of 100 words, as publication
is three times per week.

Fire Chief Stevens made known to the Board that the Town of Amite City’s proposed
budget does include the $320,000.00 allocation to TPFD 1.

Chief Stevens also made known to the Board that the paperwork for the training facility
is signed and construction of the classrooms, administrative offices and boardroom
should begin between now and the middle of July. He added that the bid process
should begin soon on the tower.

The Fire Chief informed the Board that the VFIS liability insurance renewal premium
(Moore & Jenkins), which takes effect July 1, 2026, has increased from $107,944 to
$128,719. Chief Stevens made known that the loss of two fire engines affected the
renewal premium.
After some discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Cutrer, seconded by Mr. McKneely
and carried that the premium renewal for liability insurance be accepted.

Mr. Cutrer inquired about the Fire Prevention Officer exam.
Chief Sevens made known that the applicants have taken the exam and that the
results have been received. He stated that there is a Civil Service Board meeting
scheduled for Monday so that the Board can accept the exam results.

With no further business to come before the Board, a motion was made by Mr. Lee,
seconded by Mr. McKneely and carried that the meeting be adjourned.
