Janet Voorhies’ sun rose on February 7, 1951 in Hammond, Louisiana, and set on April 16, 2025, in Hurricane Hole, Nassau Bahamas.

She is survived by her husband Phil Ekinia, her dog “pup pup”, adopted son James Young, her brothers Samuel Voorhies and Martin Morgan, stepfather Charles Morse, her (as she liked to call her) niece, Jennifer Bankston Milordis alongside husband Daniel and daughter Kayleigh Milordis as well as close cousins Joy

Johnson, Aubrey Bankston, Nicole Chavez, Lou Voorhies and lifelong friend Camilla Phillips, in addition to many more cousins.

She is preceded in death by her previous partner Keith, mother Laura Morse, and cousins Karen Young and Jimmy Bankston.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at New Beginnings Ministry (Happywoods) 42418 S. Range Rd. on May 31, 2025, at 11:00am to be followed by shared memories, food and laughter.

Janet enjoyed playing pokeno with her friends, especially Lisa! She enjoyed boating with her husband, fishing, LSU, football, especially anything Phil would whip up in the kitchen and her beloved dogs.
