Efrem Fitzgerald Temple Efrem Fitzgerald Temple was born on September 26, 1964, in Independence Louisiana to parents Willie K. Temple and Helen M. Johnson. He transitioned on May 19, 2026.

He was raised in Amite, Louisiana along with his siblings and graduated from Amite High School. Shortly after high school, Efrem enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF), the world’s premiere aerospace armed forces entity, responsible for defending the United States and its interests through airpower, global reach, and rapid response.

As a result, Efrem was fortunate to travel the world on advanced military aircraft equipped with a powerful rotating dome, known as the Airborne Warning and Central System (AWAC). This aircraft functioned as a command-and-control center, detecting targets at extreme ranges, monitoring hostile activity, and coordinating friendly fighter jets. He received an Air Medal for his efforts with two devices, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one device, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two devices, and a number of other decorations and distinctions during his Air Force Career.

After his time in the armed forces, Efrem joined the Alaska National Guard. Between the two services, he dedicated 21 years to the armed forces.

It should be noted that Efrem earned his bachelor’s degree while serving his country. His last place of employment was with the Alaska offices of Children’s services where he worked as an administrative assistant to social workers charged with protecting children in Alaska’s child welfare system. He was well-liked and respected by his colleagues here.

Efrem often visited California, where many of his aunts, uncles, and cousins lived. His family cherished his visits and his wonderful sense of humor. He also spent time with cousins in Baltimore.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie K. Temple and his sister Charlene Temple-Jackson. He is survived by his three brothers, Milton Temple, Ed Temple, and Bruce Temple, as well as many nieces and nephews. We will miss him deeply, along with his infectious laugh. May he rest in peace.

On June 18, 2026, at 1430, his cremated remains will be buried with full military honors at the Fort Richardson VA cemetery in Alaska.
