The Village of Tangipahoa
The Village of Tangipahoa Mayor and the Board of Aldermen held a public meeting on June 9, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the meeting room at 12616 Jackson Street. Mayor Gray called the meeting to order. Municipal Clerk Allicie Briggs established a quorum. Alderman Smith, Alderman Rodriguez and Mayor Pro Tem Bean are present. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the motion to amend the budget for Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2026, is carried by a vote of three yays. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the Proposed Budget for fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, is passed by three yays.

May 27, 2026, Motion by Alderman Smith and second by Alderwoman Bean the motion is carried.
Chief Martin updated the board that Officer Garrett is taking a leave of absence, and he will ask Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office to cover the village while he is off. The clerk will advertise for a part time officer for Tangipahoa Police Department in the Tangi Times.
There were two journal bids for the upcoming fiscal year the bids were from The Daily Star and the Tangi Times after presenting the bids and much discussion and a motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the motion is carried to accept Tangi Times as the official journal for the village.
Tangipahoa Police Department had a surplus bid for a 2005 white four door Ford the VIN number is 2FAFP71W85X107975 the bid was from Pedro Brumfield and he bid $800. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the motion is carried to accept the bid.
Mayor Gray presented the Crime Stoppers Endeavor Agreement there is a yearly amount of $234.00. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the motion is carried.
Mayor Gray asked the board to approve the La Compliance Questionnaire for audit engagement for Minda Raybourn CPA. The cost of the audit is $15,000. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and second by Alderman Smith the motion is carried.
Mayor Gray introduced Ordinance 4 of 2026 Establishing a maximum speed limit of ten (10) miles per hour within the village neighborhood streets. Upon motion by Alderwoman Bean and seconded by Alderman Smith the motion is carried to accept the introduction. The board has set a Special Meeting on June 15, 2026, at 10:00am to vote on the Hazard Mitigation Plan 2026. The public hearing will be held on July 14, 2026, at 5:45pm. Mayor Gray asked the board to approve the hiring of Mrs. Laura Gray as our potential CPA for the village. The monthly cost will stay the same as the previous CPA. Upon motion by Alderman Smith and second by Alderwoman Bean the motion is carried.
Ms. Tracey Cook asked the board if she could get a Crime Stoppers sign to place in her yard. The village clerk will contact the agency for the signs.
Mayor Gray Updates:
Tangipahoa Parish Government repaired potholes in the village. The back-to-school supply giveaway is July 25, 2026, at 9:00 am.
Upon motion by Alderman Smith and second by Alderwoman Bean the meeting is adjourned.
