TOWN OF AMITE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
October 7, 2025
The Mayor and City Council of the Town of Amite City, Louisiana came together in regular
session on the seventh day of October 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the meeting room of City Hall, 212 E.
Oak St., Amite, LA 70422.
Declaration
City Clerk Jewel McCoy read the public input statement.
Mayor Walter Daniels III called the council meeting to order and asked McCoy for roll call.
The following council members were present:
Mayo Pro-tem Rose Sumrall
Maria Coleman
Shirley Core
Kenyetta Richardson
Council member absent:
Charles “Mose” Guzzardo
Others in attendance:
City Manager Mark Kolwe, City Attorney Chuck Reid, Police Chief Lendrick Francois, Fire Chief
J. D. Stevens.
Prayer and Pledge
Richardson offered the opening prayer followed by Mayor Daniels leading the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Minutes
A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Core to approve the following minutes:
September 2, 2025 - Regular Council Meeting
September 15, 205 - Special Council Meeting
Motion passed with no objection.
Financial Statements
A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Richardson to approve the following financial
statements:
Budget to actual – August 31, 2025
Cash disbursements – August 31, 2025
Motion passed with no objection.
Kolwe stated that the garbage trucks and other old vehicles will soon be declared a surplus and
then auctioned.
Mayor Walter Daniels III
1. A proclamation and plaque were given to the family of Mary Lou Lee, retired city clerk,
who recently passed away. A dedication was also given to her by the City Attorney Chuck
Reid. She was employed with the city for 36 years.
2. A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Richardson to approve Resolution No. 05-
2025 Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire. A roll call vote was taken as follows:
YEAS: Coleman, Core, Richardson, Sumrall
NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: Guzzardo
Motion passed.
3. A motion was made by Richardson, seconded by Sumrall to approve the following
occupational licenses:
o True Disciple Gift Shop, LLC, 122 S. First St.
o American Vintage Vendor Mall, 207 E. Oak St.
Motion passed with no objection.
4. A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Core to appoint Robbie Lee as a board
member for Tangipahoa Parish Fire District #1. A roll call vote was taken as follows:
YEAS: Sumrall, Core
NAYS: Coleman, Richardson, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: Guzzardo
After a tie vote, Daniels cast the deciding vote against the motion.
Motion failed.
A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Core to appoint Ray Cutrer as a board
member for Tangipahoa Parish Fire District #1. A roll call vote was taken as follows:
YEAS: Coleman, Core, Richardson, Sumrall
NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: Guzzardo
Motion passed.
A motion was made by Richardson, seconded by Coleman to appoint Scott Gay as a
board member for Tangipahoa Parish Fire District #1. A roll call vote was taken as
follows:
YEAS: Coleman, Richardson
NAYS: Core, Sumrall, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: Guzzardo
After a tie vote, Daniels cast the deciding vote for the motion.
Motion passed.
Council Member Rose Sumrall
1. Police: Chief Francios stated all was good, and there was only one arrest during the
Tangipahoa Parish Fair.
2. Fire: Stevens stated all is well.
A motion was made by Richardson, seconded by Coleman to adjourn the meeting. Meeting
adjourned.
