TOWN OF KENTWOOD February 5, 2026
REGULAR MEETING
The Town Council of the Town of Kentwood, Louisiana held its regular session on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 6:00 P.M., at the Kentwood City Hall with Mayor Irma T. Gordon presiding. Mayor Gordon called the meeting to order following the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.
The roll was called with the following results:
Present: Gary Callihan, Xavier Diamond, Michael Hall, and Jakoiya Wilkerson.
Absent: Paul Stewart.
A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to approve the minutes of our January meeting.
Financial Reports will be emailed to the Council members.
Mr. Bejamin Bradley, the Veteran’s Assistance Counselor, discussed the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs program and its many benefits.
Mr. B.J. Couvillion, Entergy Representative, was not present.
A motion was offered by Councilwoman Wilkerson, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to set the date and time for the TOK Love the Boot Clean-up Day 2026 April 18th, at 8:00 a.m.
A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Diamond, and unanimously carried to approve Wine on Main’s Special Event Permit for Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 8, 2026).
A motion was offered by Councilman Diamond, second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously carried to approve the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire FYE 12.31.25.
A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilman Callihan and unanimously carried to adopt the Updated Sexual Harassment Policy for the Town of Kentwood.
A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to approve Chief Kazerooni’s recommendation to hire Joshua Santana as a full-time police officer, at a rate of $13.75/hr.
A motion was offered by Councilwoman Wilkerson, second by Councilman Diamond and unanimously carried to declare the following list of items for the Maintenance Department as Surplus property, approving the minimum bid amounts:

Mr. Kurt Ash, Regional Sales Manager, with Master Meter, Inc, gave a presentation on water meters and the different options for digital meters.
Public Input: Several business owners expressed their concern that the Town should enforce water meters for all customers which include residential customers.
Mr. David Bridges, owner of The Dub (VFW), appeared before the Council in reference to underage youth entering his establishment.
A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Diamond and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting.
