Monthly Council Meeting Minutes
The Village of Tickfaw Council met in a monthly meeting at 5:00pm on April
14, 2026. Mayor Lamonte called the meeting to order, Councilman Galofaro,
Councilman Fedele, Councilman Lemay, Chief DiBenedetto, and Attorney
Trippi all were present. All present received and reviewed the monthly
financial statements. The invocation was done by Mayor Lamonte followed by
the Pledge of Allegiance.

Lucille Nesom Memorial School
- An approval recommendation was made for the removal of portable
buildings to be replaced by a 10-12 thousand square-foot permanent
building.

Wanda Thomas
- Motion was made to remove from agenda by Fedele 2 nd Galofaro Votes 3

- A recommendation was made for the addition of an outdoor kitchen to mobile
home.

Matilde Camargo
- An approval recommendation was made for approval for a lean-to of 17x22
to cover her vehicle.
- A motion was made to approve by Galofaro 2 nd Lemay Votes 3
Laura Camargo
- An approval recommendation was made for approval for an A-Frame
covered 3 car carport.
- Motion was made to approve by Fedele 2 nd Galofaro Votes 3

11. Old Business-
a) Update on Love’s Truck Stop / Jamie Watson
- Love’s Truck Stop met with Mayor to receive a letter of no opposition from
the Morgan Family who are the neighboring property with Love’s.
- Jamie Watson would like to enter into a servitude agreement with Amar to
put a water line through their property.
- A motion to approve the Mayor to enter this agreement with Jamie Watson
was made by Galofaro 2 nd Fedele Votes 3
b) Pay Increase for Municipal Clerk
- Motion to approve made by Galofaro 2 nd Fedele Votes 3
c) Adopt or Deny Zoning Ordinance

12. New Business-
a) Set Public Hearing for 2026 Millage Rate (roll forward / not roll forward)
- A motion to set Public Hearing for May 12, 2026 at 4:45 pm made by Fedele
2 nd Lemay Votes 3
b) Enter Government contract with Tangi Sewer District for El Ranchito
- EL Ranchito Restaurant and Store were contacted by the EPA about sewer.
They needed to install a force sewer main and give it to Tickfaw to process.
The Tangi Sewer district and Mayor Lamonte came to the agreement of
50/50 profits due to sales tax revenue brought into the Village.
- A motion to authorize Mayor Lamonte to enter into an Intergovernmental
agreement made by Galofaro 2 nd Lemay Votes 3
13. Mayor Report.
- Invited everyone to come to the Spaghetti Cookoff in town on 04/18/2026.
- Mayor gave an update on his wife’s health and grant funding.
- Told everyone he is still no longer running for office this next term.
14. Police Chief Report
- Chief DiBenedetto attended the Festival Queens event at the Capital in Baton
Rouge
- Reminded everyone about the Spaghetti Cookoff and the Italian Festival
dates.
- Chief also thanked his officers whether they are paid and unpaid for helping
with festival season in neighboring cities.
15. Attorney Report
- Attorney Trippi will attend the LA City Attorneys Conference in Baton
Rouge and will update with any changes at the May meeting.
16. Council Response
- Galofaro: None
- Fedele: Wanted to mention that the streetlight on Fedele Rd is still out and
ask that it be investigated.
- Lemay: Thanked Mayor Lamonte for everything he has done for Tickfaw.
