April 2, 2026

REGULAR MEETING

The Town Council of the Town of Kentwood, Louisiana held its regular session on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 6:00 P.M., at the Kentwood City Hall with Mayor Irma T. Gordon presiding. Mayor Gordon called the meeting to order following the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

The roll was called with the following results:

Present: Gary Callihan, Xavier Diamond, Michael Hall, Paul Stewart and Jakoiya Wilkerson.

Absent: None.

A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to approve the minutes of last month’s regular meeting.

Financial Reports will be emailed to the Council members.

The sealed bids on the Police Department Surplus vehicle were opened with the following results:

2008 Ford Crown Vic VIN:2FAFP71V38X140572, minimum bid $1,000.00

Mark Holliday $1,100.00

Latoya Simmons $1000.00

A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilman Callihan and unanimously carried to award the bid to the highest bidder, Mark Holliday, for the 2008 Ford Crown Vic.

The sealed bids on the Maintenance Department Surplus vehicles were opened with the following results:

2001 Dodge Ram VIN: 3B7KC26Z7WM275999, minimum bid $250.00

Latoya Simmons $250.00

A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously carried to award the bid to the only bidder, Latoya Simmons, for the 2001 Dodge Ram.

There were no sealed bids received on the following vehicles:

1999 Dodge Ram VIN:1B7HC16XS278383 $500.00

2001 Chevy Van VIN: 1GAHG39R511104795 $500.00

2012 Ford Expedition VIN: 1FMJU1F56CEF57208 $1000.00

Chief Kazerooni requested that the 2012 Ford Expedition is removed from surplus so that the police department can fix it and use it.

A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Hall and unanimously carried to approve Chief Kazerooni’s request to keep the Expedition for the police department, removing it from the surplus property list.

A motion was offered by Councilman Hall, second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously carried to declare any Police and Maintenance Dept Surplus vehicles that received no bids as scrap, including the 2001 Chevy Impala (No Title), VIN: 2GIWF52E719289280.

The Mayor and Council discussed the sale of the Town’s 40 acres located on Hwy. 51, to the Clemons family. Attorney Molland informed them that the original donation document has to be looked at to see if there are provisions.

A motion was offered by Councilman Diamond, second by Councilman Callihan and unanimously carried to table the Town’s 40 acres discussion until more information if found on it.

Josh Mullan, Account Manager from United Systems & Software, Inc., discussed water meters.

Mayor Gordon and the Council discussed metering Kentwood Spring Waters/DS Waters.

A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilman Diamond and unanimously carried to approve metering Kentwood Spring Waters/DS Water with a flow meter, at the Town’s expense.

A motion was offered by Councilman Callihan, second by Councilwoman Wilkerson and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 p.m.
