Notice of Monthly Council Meeting Minutes

The Village of Tickfaw Council met in a monthly meeting at 5:00pm on May 12, 2026. Mayor Lamonte called the meeting to order, Councilman Fedele, Councilman Galofaro, Councilman Lemay, Chief DiBenedetto, and Attorney Trippi all were present. All present received and reviewed the monthly financial statements. The invocation was done by Mayor Lamonte followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Planning & Zoning made the recommendation to approve a prefabricated storage shed for his back yard. Motion to approve made by Councilman Galofaro Seconded by Councilman Fedele Votes: 3 Yeas

Old Business-

Update on Love’s Truck Stop and Jamie Watson Projects

Loves’s Truck Stop: Love’s 37 acres is suspected to be annexed once purchase is made anticipated for November 2026. A coming soon sign for Love’s will be in a few weeks. Anticipated opening for Love’s Truck stop is January 2027.

Jamie Watson Project: Jamie Watson was in attendance and voiced that he is working on getting all the required materials/ paperwork to proceed with the Village’s engineer to get water and sewer line to his property.

Millage Rates (stay at current millage or roll forward)

Motion made to stay at current millage rate by Councilman Fedele seconded by Councilman Galofaro Votes: 3 Yeas

New Business-

Joey Santangelo – Sewer issues on Manina Ln.

Mr. Santangelo presented concerns about plumbing at his residence. He complained of sewer backing into his utility room. Mayor and maintenance were notified on Saturday May 9, 2026 at 8pm. While investigating they opened all manhole covers and found no issues with sewer. Mr. Santangelo hired a plumber to run a line and found no issues. Mr. Santangelo would like the town to reimburse him for Plumber services and cost. The mayor advised against paying Mr. Santangelo’s plumbing bill since there was no issue concerning the Village and this is on private property. A motion was made by Councilman Galofaro to reimburse Mr. Santangelo’s bill seconded by Councilman Fedele Votes:3 Yeas

Council Lemay stipulated that this will be the only time the Village pays for this matter.

Southern Homes – Lauren

A representative for Southern Homes was not in attendance. Councilman Galofaro informed the council that this business would like to be annexed in.

Change the date of December Council Meeting to December 15, 2026, and Mayor’s Court to December 16,2026.

Introduce the Budget for Fiscal Year 07/01/2026 – 06/30/2027 and set for Public Hearing.

Adam Hebert CPA presented the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 07/01/2026 through 06/30/2027.

A motion to introduce and set for public hearing on June 9, 2026, at 4:45pm was made by Councilman Galofaro

Advertisement to obtain Quotes/Bids for Auditor, Official Journal and Fiscal Agent.

Clerk made council aware that it was time to start obtaining quotes and closed bids for Auditor, Official Journal and Fiscal Agent.

Sexual Harassment and Ethics Training

Mayor informed council that sexual harassment and ethics training needs to be completed if not completed yet.

Resolution to Amend the 1% Sales and Use Tax Ordinance

A motion to table to next council meeting on June 9, 2026, at 5pm made by Councilman Fedele Seconded by Councilman Galofaro Votes: 3 Yeas

A motion to introduce and set for public hearing on June 9, 2026, at 4:45pm was made by Councilman Fedele

Mayor Report.

Mayor Lamonte updated council on his wife’s health and requested prayers.
