The Mayor and City Council of the Town of Amite City, Louisiana came together in special session on the 20th day of June 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the meeting room of City Hall, 212 E. Oak St., Amite, LA 70422.
Declaration
City Clerk Jewel McCoy read the public input statement.
Mayor Walter Daniels III called the meeting to order and asked McCoy for roll call.

Richardson offered the opening prayer followed by Daniels leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

After discussion of the police department budget, a motion was made by Richardson, seconded by Coleman to approve Ordinance No. 09-2025 Town of Amite City Proposed Operating Budget -FYE June 30, 2026, with the following adjustments made by the police department:

Motion passed.
A motion was made by Guzzardo, seconded by Coleman to approve Tangi Times as the official journal for the FYE June 30, 2026. A roll call vote was taken as follows:

Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sumrall, seconded by Core to introduce Ordinance No. 10-2025 amendment to ordinance governing use of Amite Community Center. Public hearing and vote will be held July 1, 2025.
A motion was made by Coleman, seconded by Richardson to introduce Ordinance No. 11-2025 Event Center Amendment to Part 10 – Licensing and Regulation, Chapter 5 – Occupational License Tax to add a section governing Event Centers. Public hearing and vote will be held July 1, 2025.

Richardson stated that she would get with Stevens to make the changes and come back to the council with a proposed amendment to the mobile home ordinance.
Shirley Core
Asked for an update on annexation. Reid stated that Michael Hebert with Becker & Hebert did accept the job, but the details are still being worked out. Core asked that the council be updated monthly.
Mose Guzzardo
Thanked the community for attending the meeting and getting involved in the work that the council is doing.
A motion was made by Guzzardo, seconded by Sumrall to adjourn. Meeting adjourned.
