The Tulane Green Wave defeated the Nicholls State Colonels 36-7 at The Ocean (Yulman Stadium) on Saturday night in college football action.
Tulane star quarterback, Michael Pratt, was back in the starting lineup after missing the last two regular season games with an injury to his left leg. Pratt threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
Tulane had 408 yards of total offense in the game. Tulane’s record at this point in the season is 3-1.
Pratt broke the Tulane passing touchdown record. He completed a pass to Lawrence Keys for a 40-yard touchdown with 12 seconds left in the first quarter, moving past Patrick Ramsey in the record books. It was Pratt’s 73rd career touchdown pass at Tulane.
Tulane led from start to finish and had a 27-7 lead at halftime.
The Green Wave defense, which held Southern Miss to three points last week, was outstanding again on Saturday in The Ocean, holding the Colonels to only seven points. Besides holding Nicholls State to one touchdown, the Green Wave defense also had four interceptions in the game.
“That’s a win. You need to be happy anytime you get a win,” Tulane head coach Willie Fritz said.
Commenting on quarterback Michael Pratt, Fritz said, “Michael’s a darn good quarterback. I’m just glad I was his coach when he got the record.”
“There’s a lot of stuff to fix. It’s better to fix it when you win 36-7 than the other way,” Fritz said.
