On March 30, 2025, detectives with the Hammond Police Department Narcotics Division arrested Kenyarie Guzman, 29 years old of Ponchatoula, for multiple outstanding warrants. Following his arrest, detectives conducted a search warrant of the vehicle Guzman was driving and of an apartment on Kay Lane.

Garden Club Donates Book to Library

Belle Oaks Garden Club donated a copy of local writer Kathryn J. Martin’s book Long Way from Lonely, a fictional account of a soldier readjusting to civilian life following World War II, to the Hammond Branch of the Tangipahoa Library.

Group Holds Writers’ Retreat

On the weekend of March 28, 2025, Creative Minds Writers’ Group of Ponchatoula (CMWG) hosted their first writers’ retreat at Camp Living Waters in Loranger, LA. Attendees stayed overnight in charming cabins on the property.
