Austin Ellie Brumfield passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Hammond, Louisiana, at 92. He was born on December 8, 1930, in Franklinton, Louisiana, to the late Ellie Joe Brumfield and Emmie Daisy Yates Brumfield. He was a resident of Amite, Louisiana.
Austin is survived by his sister, Audrey “Audie” Brumfield Gill; daughters, Janice Brumfield and Slaven Vera Fay Brumfield Woodbury; sons, Alvon (Amy) and Albert “Albo” (Cissy Brumfield); twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellie and Emmie Brumfield; wife, Helen Jeanette Shelton Brumfield; and brothers, Shelby Brumfield Sr and Edward Brumfield.
