Marie-Reine “Laly” Bitoun Engeran passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Slidell, Louisiana, at 80. She was born on Saturday, October 9, 1943, in Algeria to the late Messaouda Fortune Benhamou Bitoun and the late Abraham Bitoun. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.
Laly is survived by her sons, Jean-Jacque “JJ” Engeran and Marc Engeran; stepson, Lloyd Engeran, Jr.; stepdaughter, Avra O’Dwyer; grandchildren, Tyler, Spencer, Rachel, Rebecca, Ruth, Jeremy, Bambi, Tara, Christy, Jennifer, and Laura; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Dev, Ashton, Josephine, Nicole, Ema, Henri, Seath, Ella Sophia, Jacquelyn, Patrick, and Kathryn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Laly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Joseph Engeran, Sr.; granddaughter, Julie; and siblings, Jeaneau Bitoun, Jacque Bitoun, Odet Kadouch, Andre Bitoun, Alice Bouskila, Simon Bitoun, Maurice Bitoun, and Michelle Firmin.
