Joy F. Yochim, a Baton Rouge resident born and raised in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed peacefully at 86 on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Joy, a homemaker, married her late husband, Willard Yochim Jr., and was blessed with five children. She delighted in cooking and considered the resulting love and laughter at the dinner table a great accomplishment. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind her children, Willard David Yochim III, Debbie Yochim Fuselier (Dean), Katherine Yochim Spinney, Attres Yochim Tagge (Michael), and Peck Norman Yochim (Tracye); nine grandchildren, Amanda Lorio, Brian Lorio, Dathan Spinney, Kayrie Spinney Kaiser, Chris LaCombe, Michael Tagge, Elaine Tagge, Willard ”Bill” Yochim, and Halye Yochim; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Joy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willard David Yochim Jr.; brother, Homer Henry Fendlason; parents, Homer Horatio Fendlason and Lily May Hebert Fendlason; and granddaughter, Shelia Lorio Valure.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula at 11:00am, with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Bro. Randy Ray will officiate the services, with interment to follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
