Our mom, Bernice W. Perkins, age 91, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. She was born to the late William and Audrey Walker on April 22, 1932, in Ponchatoula. She graduated from Ponchatoula High School and Southeastern Beauty College. Then, she operated her own hair salon and cosmetic business. Her hobbies included sewing, painting, jewelry design, and fishing with her husband. Bernice loved her family dearly and left behind so many beautiful memories. She was a wonderful mother and a lovely person and is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David I. Perkins; sisters, Celeste Brunner and Delores Renfro; and brother, William “Sonny” Walker. She is survived by her sister, Joanna Parker; children, Marion, Michael, and Cindy Fannaly; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
