Sue, age 81, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home. She was a resident of Independence. Sue was a hard worker who dedicated 18 years to Hammond Motors and then 33 years at the Tangipahoa Parish Water District. She loved taking care of people and was known as Mama Sue by many. Sue was happiest surrounded by those she loved, especially the ones that called her Maw Maw. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be forever missed. She is survived by her daughter, Susie Ippolito; sons, Brian Corkern (Dara), Jeffrey Corkern (Tammy); grandchildren, Tonya Chauvin (Brent), Christopher Corkern, Becka Morgan (TJ), Shannon Corkern, Cameron Corkern, Brandon Davis, Terri Lynn Ippolito; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, and nephews. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Oza and Holline Starnes Jones; brother, Kenny Ray Jones; and sister, Loretta “Faye” Starkey.
