The week in Southeastern sports got off to a shaky start with the Lady Lion softball team heading down to the bayou smarting from their first loss in Southland Conference play and snapping a 25-game winning streak.

Lady Wave softball has punched their ticket into the state playoffs as the #5 seed in Division I Select. The girls will take on #12 seed Dominican on Tuesday night at home. With a win, the girls will take on either #4 seed John Curtis or #13 seed Lafayette in the quarterfinals.

The week in Southeastern sports started on Monday with Coach Lawrence Allan’s Lion golfers taking part in the Arkansas State Spring Invitational. SLU had a pair finish tied for fifth in the two-day event to help Southeastern take third overall with a +15.

Spring break didn’t seem to slow down the Southeastern beach volleyball last week, as the sandy Lions entered Friday’s Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge as winners of six straight and near the top in the Southland Conference.

Lady Wave softball ended the regular season with a blowout win at Holden by a final score of 16-0. Paityn Lancaster drove in five runs on four hits including a bases- clearing single in the fifth inning.

Spring break started off on the right foot for Southeastern Athletics with the Lady Lion tennis team having little trouble with Loyola on Monday, knocking off the visitors from New Orleans, 5-1.In the #3 singles, Aitana Darder won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

The winning streak continued for the red-hot Southeastern softball team, extending their school tear by sweeping a three-game Southland Conference series over McNeese State in Lake Charles.

Lady Wave softball was dominant last week with three great wins on the road.Monday at Covington-19-3 W Lillian Virga hit two home runs and drove in three runs. Abby Dagro also hit a three-run homerun. Dagro also finished with 4 RBI’s.

For the second time this year, the Southeastern baseball team squared off with a nationally ranked opponent, taking on the nation’s #8 team, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Tuesday night.

Lady Wave softball finished 3-3 last week, getting two shutout wins at home and taking one out of three games in a tough Quitman tournament.Monday vs Northlake Christian- 10-0 W The Lady Wave used an eight-run fourth inning to secure the win capped off by a three-run homerun from Lillian Virga.
