Lion Named Pitcher of the Week - Again

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Brennan Stuprich was named the Jersey Mike’s Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.Three days before, the Junior right hander from Kenner had an impressive outing in the SLC opener.

Good Week for Tulane Baseball

The Tulane Green Wave won three of their four baseball games last week.Tulane’s record now is 15-9 overall and 2-1 in the American Athletic Conference.The week started with a rare game on a Monday, a single game against the St. Louis Billikens. The Green Wave defeated the Billikens 2-0.

Lions Baseball

It was a happy homecoming for Southeastern baseball skipper, Bobby Barbier, who took two out of three from his old team, Northwestern State, in the Southland Conference opening series for both teams.

Allen Graves has added two more prestigious awards to his historic senior season by winning both Gatorade Louisiana High School Player of the Year and being named to Class 5A First Team All-State.Graves finished the year averaging 21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals per game.

SLU Softball

The Southeastern Lady Lion softball team made it look all too easy in a 3-game road trip sweep at the conference's other Lions over the weekend. Coach Rick Fremin’s squad outscored Texas A&M-Commerce by an astonishing count of 45-1 to improve to 21-6 on the year and 5-1 in Southland play.

Prep Bowling

Last week, the Hammond Tornado bowling team captured their fourth straight district title, but it didn’t come easy.St. Paul’s led 5 to 3 after 1, only to see HHMS draw even at 8 after the second game. From there, it was all Hammond, as the Tors took 10 out of the next 11 to take the match 18-9.

SLU Baseball

After an impressive mid-week win over Tulane, the Southeastern Lion Baseball team looked forward to a three-game weekend set with the OTHER SLU, St. Louis University.The Bilikens came to town sporting a mark of 15-1 and winners of seven straight.

Tulane Wins Series from Pepperdine

The Tulane Green Wave beat the Pepperdine Waves two games to one in a threegame series this past weekend. At this point in the college baseball season, Tulane’s record is 12-8.The series against Pepperdine was played at Turchin Stadium on the Tulane campus in New Orleans.

Six Green Wave basketball players were named to All-District teams last week.Allen Graves was named District MVP. Jeremiah Lewis was named to 1st Team All-District, while Taj Jackson was named to 2nd Team All-District.

You Can’t Spell Sluggers Without SLU

A total of a half dozen games saw the Southeastern baseball and softball teams combine for a total of 72 runs and even more important, a 6-0 record.The offensive explosions helped a pair of SLU batters earn honors from the Southland Conference.
