Gwyn Babin
Gwyn was born in Hammond, LA, July 16, 1947, to the late Robert and Leona Ball. She passed away in Hammond on July 19, 2026.
A resident of Ponchatoula, LA, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, a retired beautician of thirty years, former owner of Fleur De Lis Events Center in Ponchatoula, and author of the cookbook “Gwyn Babin’s Family & Friend Favorites.” Gwyn enjoyed traveling with friends and family as well as cooking. She obtained her first fishing license at the age of 75.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John E. Babin; daughter Melanie Hayes and husband Bruce; son, Chuck Babin; sisters, Linda Ryan and husband Larry, and Lavonne Samuels and husband Ricky; and grandchildren Cory Hayes, Miranda Babin, Madison Babin, Jordyn Hayes, and Lucy Hayes.
In addition to her parents, Gwyn was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Anglin. Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Friday, July 24, 2026, after 9:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Dr. David Cranford. Following services, she will be buried in Carter Cemetery, Springfield, LA.
