Earlier last week, three Lady Wave basketball seniors were given LHSAA All-Academic honors. Kaitlyn Fridge was named to the 4.0 All-Academic Composite Team. Devasia Williams and Jill Joseph were named to the 3.5 or higher All-Academic Team.

Weather was a factor for Southeastern Louisiana University sports teams over the weekend. It started with the Lady Lion softball team in the Metroplex, battling the University of Texas at Arlington.

The PHS Football Boosters Club will be hosting their annual Gumbo Cook-Off this Saturday. The cook-off and silent auction will be from 10:30-2, and there will also be a car show courtesy of Cruisin Da Lake from 8-5. The cook-off will be held in the parking lot behind the big strawberry in town.

A busy weekend got an early start for Southeastern Athletics when the Lady Lion softball and basketball teams were in action on Thursday. Rick Fremin’s diamond girls were deep in the heart of Texas for an early afternoon contest with Texas-San Antonio.

Monday, the Southeastern Louisiana University golfers returned to action south of the lake, taking part in the Gulf Coast Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of New Orleans. Coach Lawrence Allen’s club finished ninth in the two-day event with a +77, 317.

Lady Wave Basketball are moving on to the second round of the state playoffs as they dominated against #22 seeded Ben Franklin in the Hardwood Swamp on Thursday night by a final score of 60-11. The girls jumped out to a 42-8 halftime lead and never looked back.

Another busy week began on Monday for Southeastern Athletics starting with golf team teeing off for the first time in 2026, taking part in the Bentwater Intercollegiate Tournament, a 2-day event hosted by former Southland rival Sam Houston in Huntsville, TX.
