On Friday morning, the Southeastern Lady Lion Basketball team woke up in a strange place – out of the top spot in the Southland Conference, thanks to Thursday’s 67-60 setback to the Lamar Cardinals.The loss snapped a 4-game winning streak and handed SLU their first home loss in league play.

To quote Yogi Berra, it was like Déjà vu all over again for Southeastern’s basketball team and forward, Nick Caldwell.On Monday, the senior forward was named the Southland Conference’s Player of the Week after a pair of games that included a double-double outing and a game-clinching three.

On Saturday, the Southeastern Lions used a 23-9 lead at the half to claim a 69-59 win over the Northwestern State Demons in Natchitoches. The win gave SLU one of the rare sweeps over NSU in basketball and was the fourth in a row for head coach, David Keiffer.

The Tulane Green Wave women’s basketball team lost 80-79 to the Memphis Tigers in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Elma Roane Fieldhouse in Memphis. Tulane’s record is now 10-13 overall and 3-9 in American Athletic Conference play.Kyren Whittington scored a career-high 33 points for the Green Wave.

The boys’ basketball team finished last week with two great wins. On Tuesday, the Wave took on St. Paul’s in the Hardwood Swamp and dominated from the tip-off, starting the game on a 20-2 run. The boys went on to win convincingly, 77-57.
